After nearly a decade of legal proceedings, Hollywood icons Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially settled their divorce. The resolution comes eight years after Jolie initially filed for divorce, marking the end of a long and highly publicized legal saga.

On December 30, the former couple finalized their divorce terms, signing off on the agreement, as reported by Variety. Jolie's attorney, James Simon, shared a statement, saying, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.”

Simon further elaborated, “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

According to the statement, the former Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars have agreed to participate in a 10 to 15-day jury trial. Additionally, they plan to engage in settlement conferences or mediation sessions to address any lingering disputes.

The couple's legal struggles were exacerbated by allegations of physical abuse during a private flight in 2016. Reports at the time claimed Pitt allegedly “choked” one of the children, “struck another in the face,” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.” These allegations first surfaced through People magazine and were later confirmed in a 2022 lawsuit that identified Pitt and Jolie as the subjects.

Jolie's attorney also filed claims in April alleging that Pitt’s abusive behavior began well before the 2016 incident. The filing accused Pitt of attempting to coerce Jolie into signing a nondisclosure agreement, preventing her from speaking publicly about his alleged physical and emotional abuse.

Another point of contention in the divorce proceedings revolved around the couple’s shared ownership of Chateau Miraval, a French winery. Jolie alleged that Pitt tried to block her from selling her half of the winery unless she agreed to the nondisclosure agreement. The legal battles surrounding this issue highlighted the complexity of their separation.

While the divorce settlement marks the closure of a significant chapter, it is only one part of what has been a challenging journey for both parties.
