Actor Randeep Hooda was initially unsure about taking on the antagonist role in the upcoming action-packed film ‘Jaat’, starring Sunny Deol in the lead.

Why Randeep Hooda Hesitated to Play Ranatunga

According to a source close to the film, the filmmakers were eager to cast Randeep as the menacing Ranatunga. However, the actor had reservations about playing a villain—especially one that wasn’t a Jaat character.

The insider revealed: "When the producers approached Randeep for the role of Ranatunga, he was intrigued by the challenge but wasn’t sure about taking that leap. However, director Gopichand Malineni’s enthusiasm during the screenplay narration and the opportunity to play the lead villain against Sunny Deol, whom he greatly admires, ultimately convinced him to accept the role."

An Explosive Trailer Teases an Epic Showdown

On March 25, the makers unveiled the high-octane trailer of ‘Jaat’, showcasing an intense face-off between Deol and Hooda. The gripping preview highlights brutal action sequences, deep emotional moments, and a power struggle that drives the film’s narrative.

Randeep Hooda’s character, Ranatunga, is a cold, ruthless antagonist, stopping at nothing to eliminate anyone who dares to challenge him. Opposing him is Sunny Deol’s Jaat, a powerful force standing against injustice.

The First-Ever Onscreen Pairing of Sunny Deol & Randeep Hooda

‘Jaat’ marks the first collaboration between Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, with Hooda stepping into the shoes of a formidable antagonist. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film boasts a strong ensemble cast, including Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, and Regina Cassandra in key roles.

Sunny Deol on ‘Jaat’: A Passion Project

Speaking about the film’s journey, Sunny Deol shared: "This film’s journey began during Gadar 2. We were all excited about it. After meeting several directors, Gopichand Malineni came on board. When we met in Goa, he narrated a different story first, making me laugh with 'Sorry Bol' (laughs). But in the end, he completely pulled me into the world of ‘Jaat.’"
