After a prolonged period of hibernation, Hrishitaa Bhat is back again with a bang with Shakti Samanta's latest film Don Muthuswami directed by Asheem Samanta.

In Don Muthuswamy, Hrishitaa has been cast as the daughter of the veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty. On the eve of the release of the film, we catch up with the hot babe at The Classic Raheja Club where she has landed to promote herself and her film.

At the outset, Hrishitaa tells me that she is playing the loved, spoilt and pampered daughter of the Don.

"It was quite tough for me to get into the skin of my character called Sanjana in Don Muthuswamy, because a lot of drama and energy had to be invested in my role and hence I had to be on my feet all the time.

I am up in arms against my dad because I do not want to marry any of the tutors that he brings home with the fond hope that I will fall in love with any of them."

Hrishitaa asserts that it is not for the first time that she is acting in a comedy film.

"I had earlier acted in Ananth Mahadevan's Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, in which mine was an out and out comedy role. I also enjoyed playing a comic role in Vashu Bhagnani's comic caper Out of Control with Riteish Deshmukh.

Comedy, I feel, is something which is very unpredictable. It works only if and when it touches you."

To some extent, Hrishitaa confesses that she could identify herself with the role of Sanjana in Don Muthuswamy, because she is also a bully at home at times.

Adds Hirshitaa, "There are quite a few hilarious situations in the film, because while my father is a South Indian, my mum in the film is a Punjabi and it will look like an extended version of the Kamal Haasan-Rati starrer Ek Duuje Ke Liye."

Hrishitaa confesses honestly that she is a crazy fan of comedy films.

"In general, I am a very happy person. I have enjoyed watching comedy films like Padosan, Hera Pheri, Golmaal, Chupke Chupke and last but not the least Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

I used to freak out on all movies in which Kishore Kumar had acted and my favorite among all of them is Padosan."

Hrishitaa readily asserts that though it has been almost six years since she had made her debut in films with the Abhsihek Bachchan starrer Shararat, she has not yet been given her proper due in films.

"Every actor has his own individual destiny. I believe in luck and talent a lot. I do not rue the fact that it has taken me a long item to tread as far as Bollywood is concerned, because I am of the belief that you learn slowly and steadily from your mistakes.

Till date I have not banked on even a single film of mine. I make it a point not to repeat the mistakes that I had done earlier."

When she looks back, Hrishitaa admits that though her growth has been slow and steady, she is nevertheless happy with the fact that there is lot to come as far as her career graph is concerned, though she also admits that she is yet to work with quite a lot of banners, which count in the industry today.

She adds, "Though earlier I was typed as the girl-next-door, after I did Jigyaasa, I have been typed as a glamour girl."

Besides Don Muthuswamy, she has up in her sleeves quite a few prestigious films like Idiot directed by Sunanda, in which she is playing a simple Bengali girl and has been teamed opposite Sushant Singh.

Hrishitaa is also excited about her forthcoming films like Chehre directed by Rohit Kaushik, which has been set in a certain period in which she plays an actress and Jugaad based on a slice of real life about the demolitions conducted by the Delhi government on illegal showrooms and offices.

Though Idiot Box, now a days, emerging as more eyeball catcher than big screens in gloomy theatres, Hrishitaa hastens to add that she does not connect with the medium of television.

"I do not believe in TV and do not watch the saas bahu serials at all; though I would love to do a good show as an anchor", explains Hrishitaa.

Hrishitaa says that she does not regret having done any film, even if in the process, her career had nosedived and taken a couple of steps back.

"Every film has been a learning experience as far as I am concerned. I accepted Jigyaasa only because at the script level it sounded great when the director narrated the subject to me. However, I was disappointed when the treatment did not turn out to be as good.

I completed the film because I am a thorough professional, even though quite a few people told me that it was a suicidal move on my part to do a sleazy film like that by wearing revealing clothes."

Hrishitaa says that she remembers each and every film that she has done till date, whether it was Asoka in which she had been pitted opposite Shah Rukh Khan, or for that matter Shararat in which Abhishek Bachchan was her leading man, or Haasil in which she was teamed opposite Jimmy Sheirgill or Out Of Control in which Riteish was her leading man or even Dil Vil Pyar Vyar.

Talking about her career, Hrishitaa says succinctly, "To be still the person that I am and still having a lot more credential as an actor to look back and feel that all the hard work that I had done till date has been worth a satisfying experience for me." - Jyothi Venkatesh
