We are talking about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's wannabe magnum opus Saawariya which is now available on DVDs and VCDs. However, unlike the film which arrived amidst a lot of fanfare, it has been quite 'thanda' on the home video front. There has been absolutely no promotion about the DVD arrival, which appears to be quite strange.
Why? Because at one point of time, there were talks about a mega launch of the film's DVDs with Bhansali and the stars of the film - Ranbir and Sonam - unveiling the DVDs.
In fact earlier this year, there were also talks that there would be an Om Shanti Om v/s Saawariya clash all over again with the DVDs of Saawariya arriving around the same time as Farah Khan's blockbuster success Om Shanti Om. However, the clash was averted (thankfully) from happening again and Saawariya chose to wait.
For those select few who may be uninitiated about the whole Om Shanti Om v/s Saawariya imbroglio, both the films were involved in a bitter clash with Farah Khan as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali indulging in war of words in and around the release
. The result was there to be seen as the clash adversely affected Saawariya in a big way which resulted in it flopping at the box office in a matter of first weekend itself.
Though the film opened well, it couldn't sustain due to an all around negative feedback which it got from audience and critics alike that resulted in its downfall.
However, it is still difficult to believe that when Saawariya has finally been made available to be grabbed by those who wish to watch films in the comfort of their homes, there is no one associated to the film who seems to be in a mood to talk about it! - Joginder Tuteja
