Her movies are flopping one after the other and the brands that she endorsed are losing interest in her. Very recently the 'Titan' watches ad campaign dropped her and Soha Ali Khan is being seen as the brand's new face.
The latest is that she also lost a part in her favourite director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming movie 'Chenab Gandhi'.
Apparently it was Rani who said no to him since he refused to play just a cameo in the movie starring Harman Baweja and Amitabh Bachchan.
The buzz is that when Bhansali asked her to be a part of the film, she quickly told him to give her Vidya Balan's lead part. She loved the script but wasn't in any way ready to settle for a cameo.
Now this might also have something to do with Vidya. Didn't rumor mills suggest that Vidya walked out her mentor Pradeep Sarkar's film 'Laaga Chunari mein daag' as Rani's role was more important? If Vidya can, why can't the more experienced Rani?
Now Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for doing the right casting in his movies and it hasn't really depended on his personal equations. Now didn't he properly cast Rani in 'Black'? Maybe he thinks only Vidya is suitable for the part!
As for Rani, Bhansali's 'Saawariya' must have taught her a good lesson. She played a supporting part in her favourite director's film and second fiddle to newcomers, yet it did nothing to help her career.
But maybe saying yes would have been better idea! If her safe haven 'Yash Raj' had given her hits, it would have been a different story though!
