And now the two are flooded with offers for films highlighting the travails and adventures of the 50-plus brigade.
Unfortunately Naseer isn't biting the bait.
But Anupam is making hay while the sun shines.
Says Anupam, "I'm at this very moment shooting for Carry On, Pandu with Om Puri. Om and I earlier did a remake of Victoria 203 with us playing Ashok Kumar and Pran's parts. I think it should've come after A Wednesday. Pandu is being directed by a very well-known Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni (Meerabai Not Out)."
"I keep telling Naseer we're the new rock stars of Bollywood, " jokes Anupam. I'm so happy that A Wednesday has made such an impact. "
In fact Bollywood is planning several films with the two new 'rock stars' including, apparently a sequel to Wednesday.
Three of Anupam's film Saraansh, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin and Khosla Ka Ghosla are now being screened on Channel 4 in London as part of a retrospect.
Says Anupam, "Channel 4 is screening these three films accompanied by my interviews conducted by Naseer Munni Kabeer. It's an honour."
The London branch of Anupam's acting school opened last month. "We've taken on only eight students, all Asians from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The foreigners will follow. The British media has been very supportive.
We want to do it in a restricted manner and then introduce the concept of an acting school for Britons run by an Indian.
At the moment it seems strange to the gora log. Looking at my acting schools from the other end, you'd be surprised to know I've a French girl enrolled in the Mumbai branch of my school. "
Anupam is busy sending off deserving teachers from Mumbai to London. "Dalip Tahil who has a certain stature in theatre in London, is gone for a week. Then we'll send someone else. Naseer, if he agrees."
