Stumped can be termed as another crossover movie and it is Raveena`s maiden attempt as a producer too. The movie revolves around the wife of an Army major played by Raveena herself and features the various cricket stars including Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Zahir Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid. Music of the film is not bad either. The album starts with, "Hum ko Hai Pura Yakein" a sort of national pride chant-song is really catchy and powerful.
A whole slew of singers sing the song, Shaan, Sunidhi, K.K, Sagarika and more, all do an adequate job. Watch out for this to remain on the top of the charts. The title song, sung by Sonu Nigam, comes next. Sonu flies through the song without any difficulty, even though the notes are all over the scales. Watch out for this song on the top of the charts also, the music is tremendous and the singing does well.
"Aisa Hi Bada Hua Hai Gavaskar" is another fast paced cricketeer song sung by Shaan and KK. The lyrics here a little bit lacking with whole interludes of "Yippe Yah Yah Yah...". "Ek Sapna" is sung beautifully by Shashwati-and is remixed. Why a slow song like this one needs to be remixed confuses me! The music is mostly synthesized, but very peaceful on the ears. KK and Rakesh Pandit sing "Sona Chandi", another percussion based chant-national pride song. If people get tired of "Hum ko Hai Pura Yakein".... there's a remix of that one too!
"Yeh Desh Hai Veer Jawano Ka" is a Punjabi number by Gurdaas Maan. The music is highly synthesized with a dhol providing most of the beats. The song is a good Punjabi number, but nothing too special. Overall, Stumped is a good album, though its no classic. The lyrics and music are all pretty good, but again, nothing special. Hopefully, the movie will supplement the songs and make them a big hit.
