Kailasa, the Mumbai-based band is going places, literally. It is more famous for its lead singer Kailash Kher, who
has carved a niche for himself as a leading playback singer. But the band is also flourishing. Its latest conquest
was a rocking performance at the recent Kumbh Mela.
Kumbh Mela 2010 began at Haridwar from 14th January and will continue till 28th April. Kumbh Mela 2010 is
special as it once in 144 years that this Kumbh Mela is held.
This year saw scores of devotees flocking to
pay their respects. Several artists were invited to perform at Sawr Ganga, the cultural function of Maha Kumbh.
Kailasa, whos music is mostly a fusion of classical, pop & sufi, performed at the same. Hema Malini also
performed a classical dance piece at the same function
The band comprises of Paresh and Naresh Kamath and others, besides Kailash. They have albums like Kailasa
and Jhoomo Re and have performed to a crowd of over one crore devotees.
The band has performed to
huge crowds before but this experience was something else altogether. Reportedly, the journey to get there itself
was spectacular. They drove down through a picturesque route and were given a police escort into the
city.
Their gig was a major success, especially Kailash rendition of Jaana Jogi De Nall. The band also
dedicated their performance of Babam Bam Lahiri to Lord Shiva. All in all, it was a truly memorable experience, for
both the devotees and the band members!
