There is some renewed interest in Aashaayein -- Nagesh Kukunoor's yet-to-release John Abraham-starrer. Buzz is that the star is keen that the film, a Percept production, see the light of day soon. Confirms Shailendra Singh of Percept, "That's true. John is very, very keen and very, very committed to this film."
He adds, "Our partners are working towards a late June-early July release. It is a very good product and needs the right date for release."
Change in tune
Aashayein, ready for almost two years now, had its audio release in May 2008. As reported ('Music revives Aashayein') the background score of the movie was reworked by the composer duo Salim-Sulaiman late last year. The film's makers wanted it to be changed as the promos had an extremely dull feel to it.
The project was plagued with problems after its completion following legal issues among the producers regarding the film's storyline and alterations made in the script. Apparently, John's character of a compulsive gambler coming into money was changed to a cancer patient. Also, the recession that followed further affected the project.
The actor had shed considerable weight for the film that was shot in Pondicherry. His co-star is Sonal Sehgal who featured with Himesh Reshammiya in Radio.
