"It is a first-of-its-kind reality show. Aspirants can just log on to our site and follow a simple procedure. We intend to provide a platform to them so that they can perform and prove their mettle, " Shamik Talukder, senior vice president of Radio Mirchi, told.
"The best part is that the winners will get an opportunity for playback singing in movie 'Gulaab Gang', a unique opportunity never offered before by any such reality show, " Talukder added.
Director Shoumik Sen's "Gulaab Gang" stars Raveena Tondon, Tabu and Shahana Goswami. Set in western Bihar, the movie tells the story of women who decide to fight against atrocities towards them.
The two winners - a male and a female - will also get an opportunity to work with the band Agnee, which is composing music for the movie.
K. Mohan, lead vocalist of the band, said it is not just another reality show.
"We launched the show not to create a business model, but to get singers who will in sometime replace me in the band and will get a chance to make there name in the industry through their performances, " he said.
He further added that they would like to continue the show next year. "Hopefully, if this time we get a good response, we would like to continue it next year. We are also looking for actors, directors and dancers to perform and direct our videos, " he said.
Currently the show organisers are busy auditioning and so far they have finalised Saurav Paul from Kolkata and Manvi Gupta, a doctor by profession, from Delhi. Now they will go to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Pune in search of talent.
In total there will be eight finalists who will contest for the title at the grand finale July 10 in Mumbai.
