Kangna Ranaut owns one of the most expensive cars in the world -- a 7-Series luxury car and has a licence to drive it but fear of driving on Mumbai's roads prevents her from doing that. In fact, while shooting for Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Kangna had to drive a car but the scene was changed, as she couldn't get the car moving.
Says Kangs candidly, "It's true that though I have a licence I still don't know how to drive. There's a scene in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai where I have to drive down to a hotel where goons are waiting to meet me. I tried to drive I couldn't so they had the car pulled in such a way as to show I was driving."
She adds, "There are some things in life one cannot do, however hard one tries. I have taken driving lessons, and enrolled myself at a driving school but whenever I need to drive, I freeze up. I have a beautiful pearl-gray 7-Series car and would love to drive but I just can't!"
Ranaut feels her driving phobia started when she tried to drive one day and banged into an autorickshaw.
"Once, I even banged into a big rock and the phobia just might have started after that. Every time I drive I fear I will bang into something. I can't risk that. But yes, one day I will overcome this fear because I don't want to give up. I will take more lessons and drive down the Pune highway myself -- as is my dream!"
FILMI BAATEIN
In Once Upon A Time..., Kangna plays an actress called Rehana, "whose persona is loosely based on Madhubala's character. I am a big star and Sultan's (Ajay Devgn) girlfriend who suffers from a heart problem. It was challenging playing a character from the 1970s with wigs et al. The most difficult thing was to invoke romance on screen."
