The Tamil film, which will also be released in Hindi and Telugu, stars South superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles.
Unsurprisingly expectations were sky high since the music for the movie, which has reportedly been made with a budget of Rs 190 crore, has been scored by Oscar winning composer A R Rahman.
From the promos, the music has been so far well-received and director S Shankar is also said to be 'very happy' with Rahman's work.
The film is generating unprecedented amount of buzz down in South India while the producers have reportedly ensured it gets the widest-ever release nationally.
Sounding eerily like the 1999 Hollywood film Bicentennial Man, Endhiran, a science fiction movie with stunning visual effects, is said to be the story of a robot who turns human.
The Aishwarya-starrer is expected to hit sometime in early September and it is likely to go head-to-head with the Dabangg, starring Salman Khan, which releases on September 10.
The clash between the films is sure to be quite an event with the demi-God of Tamil Nadu Rajnikanth donning a huge patronage down south against Salman Khan's grasp over Hindi-speaking regions.
