As there is a farmer agitation happening near the village

Heeding the pleas of Peepli villagers, Aamir Khan picked one in Palwal district to visit. The gaanv is on the Uttar Pradesh-Haryana border. However, a farmer agitation in Tappal, a neighbouring village, has stopped the actor in his tracks.

The SP of Aligarh under whose jurisdiction the area falls, has sent an official letter to the Khar police station as well as a fax to AK's office asking him not to visit the place.

A source reveals, "Aamir was informed of the agitation on the outskirts of Peepli. Some 10 kms away from the village, farmers were revolting against the government for usurping their land for redevelopment. Since Peepli [Live] talks about farmer suicide and their condition, local cops thought the actor's visit might create a law-and-order situation."

He decided to keep away. Says a source, "The situation is Tappal is very grave and the police have cordoned off the area. Since all available manpower has been used to handle the tense situation there wouldn't be enough police force to provide security cover for the actor."
