Filmmaker Anurag Basu will return to making TV shows. Sources confirm that the Kites director is working on a bi-weekly show that will include stories from Life... In A Metro. Newcomers will be cast in the series and auditions are underway.
Says a source, "Anurag wanted to make this show even before Kites. Since Metro did well and audiences appreciated the effort, he wanted to make a televised version of the film.
The stories will be set in Mumbai and have characters based on those played by Shilpa Shetty, Kangna Ranaut, Shiney Ahuja and Sharman Joshi."
The script is being fine-tuned even as Basu looks for new faces. The show will be produced under his banner Ishana Productions.
"He was earlier toying with the idea of directing it but later changed his mind. Someone else will direct the show, but he will be hands on in making all creative decisions."
Buzz is that there might be cameos from the actual stars of the film. However, getting actors from the cast will be difficult.
"Kangna has distanced herself from Basu and moved on to other film makers. Shiney won't agree to appear on a TV show. The only actors he can consider approaching are Shilpa, Sharman and Kay Kay Menon."
