"Holding a kite and setting it free, watching it become a part of the wind and dance upwards up up up in the sky!" she added.
Bollywood actor Ritiesh Deshmukh and director Madhur Bhandarkar wished the fans in a more traditional lingo.
"Happy Makar Sankranti my friends - Til gul ghyaa aani god-god bola (Eat sweets, speak sweetly), " posted Ritesh on the microblogging site.
Bhandarkar echoed him: "Til gul ghya god-god bola! Happy Makar Snakranti."
As the sun changes its position in the celestial path, farmers across the country bring in the mature crops from the fields on this day and also fly kites.
"Happy Pongal and Makar Sankranti! Grandly celebrated it's the festival of harvesting!" Vivek Oberoi posted on his Twitter page.
Abhishek Bachchan posted: "Happy Makar Sankranti, happy Pongal and happy Bihu..... phew! A lot of reasons to be happy. So smile!"
