Ranjkanth has been re-admitted into hospital on Wednesday just a few days after he was in hospital after the mahurat of Rana on April 29.
And this time he will be hospital for at least 2-3 days, depending on his progress. His stay in hospital could be extended. As anxious fans flocked outside the St Isabel Hospital, Chennai grew increasingly restless about its screen deity's health.
I tracked down Dr Murli Manohar, the Executive Producer of Rana in Chennai who spilled the beans. Interestingly Dr Murli is a qualified doctor himself. He said, "It is nothing alarming. We all have the right to take time off for health reasons. Everyone has the privilege (!!) of going into hospital for treatment. But not Rajnikanth. Yes he was in hospital for a few hours on 29 April. And he's in hospital again, this time for a longer time because we've finished our schedule. Rajnikanth is resting in hospital. "
According to Dr Murli Rajnikanth is suffering from allergy bronchitis. "It's a condition that gets aggravated by heat and dust. And right now Chennai is really hot. Rajnikanth wrapped up his shooting on Wednesday and then got admitted into hospital. "
When asked him if there's concern over the mega-star's health Dr Murli scoffs, "No harm can come to him. He is Rajnikanth. It's just a minor health setback. And we are not worried at all. "
However sources claim there's reason for concern since the triple roles in Rana involve three different get-ups, heavy prosthetics and lots of action. According to a source, "The role is strenuous and involves lots of heavy get-ups. The concern is, will Rajnikanth be able to carry off the task of romancing five leading ladies?
In the meanwhile Ileana D'Cruz who is supposed to make her debut with Ranbir Kapoor in Anurag Basu's Barfee has been added on to Rana as one of Rajnikanth's heroines. Lara Dutta is apparently being added to the heroine's gallery in Rana.
Says Dr Murli, "We need two more leading ladies. But there is time to find them. "
