Says a source very close to the project, "UTV has decided to come on board to produce what promises to be one of the most expensive films in the history of Indian commercial cinema."
The film is a Hindu-Muslim love story. Rishi Kapoor plays a Hindu lawyer while the Big B play a Muslim commissioner of police.
Says Rishi Kapoor, "They were the best of friends 40 years back. And they haven't spoken for 40 years. It's a romantic film, but also so funny. We're going to have look-alikes playing the young Rishi Kapoor and the Big B. I want to work with Amitji. Now it all depends on him."
The Big B ofcourse is basking in his newly-found status as a Dadajee. And he has eyes for no one and nothing except his grand-daughter.
Says a source, "Amitji has just finished a very invigorating season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The exhilaration of having achieved something extraordinary had still not settled down when the little one came. The household at the moment moves completely according to the baby. At the moment the Big B is enjoying his state of contemplative idleness."
In the meanwhile the people behind Mehrunissa are getting nervous and anxious.Shooting in Lucknow and Bhopal has to take place in spring, or not at all.
Nikhil Advani who has written the script says, "Yes, we're waiting for Mr Bachchan to give his nod. There's no Mehrunissa without him.As for UTV coming on board, that's still in a fluid state of discussion."
