After a dream debut with Band Baaja Baaraat, little did Ranveer Singh anticipate that his second film with Yashraj would do nothing for him. Probably why the actor who has been much sought after by most producers did not think twice before moving onto to greener pastures.
He has now bagged two big-budget films including Lootera and Magadheera with other production houses, without really keeping his three-film contract with Yashraj. Says a source, "Ranveer has been wanting to do a big-budget film for a while now and has been hinting the same to Yashraj as well.
He got a little tired of waiting, plus he had some very lucrative offers come his way. Letting go of them wouldn't have been worth it, since Yashraj does not have a concrete plan for his third film yet. Plus most of the ideas were for small-budgeted ventures."
Buzz is that ever since Ladies vs Ricky Bahl tanked at the box office, things haven't been too well between the actor and the production house. Adds the source, "He shares a great relationship with them. They launched him and nothing can change that. But he has to look at what is good for him in the future."
Evidently, the actor is trying to build loyalties elsewhere. Which is perhaps why he has not signed one but two films with Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane's Phantom Films, including Lootera with Sonakshi Sinha and Bombay Velvet with Anushka Sharma.
Raveer's spokesperson says, "The three film deal still stands and he will most definitely do this third with YRF as and when his outside commitments are seen through. Ranveer would love to work with YRF beyond his three film deal as well and considers it an honour to do so."
However Co-star Anushka Sharma who also signed a three-film deal with YRF went on to not only finish the projects but also did a fourth film opposite Ranveer for them.
