Six years after Sooraj Barjatya helmed a project, the filmmaker is now gearing up for his next directorial venture and has also expressed a desire to work with his lucky mascot Salman Khan.
"I am writing my script and should be starting shooting soon," Sooraj told. He made his directorial debut with 'Maine Pyar Kiya' (1989) starring Salman, which was a huge box office hit.
He teamed up with Salman again for 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' (1994), one of the highest all-time blockbusters, and 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain' (1999) which also became a hit. His next two films, 'Main Prem Ki Diwani
Hoon' and 'Vivah' did not have Salman in the lead.
The former, starring Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan, failed at the box office, but his next film as a director 'Vivah' (2006) starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao was a success. It's been years
since Sooraj and Salman Khan have come together for a film.
When asked if there is anything in the pipeline, Sooraj said, "It is yet too early to say, but it is my dream to make a film with him again." He recently launched his new TV serial 'Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga', being
aired on Sahara One from February 27.
Rajshri Productions has had a successful stint on television with shows like 'Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki', 'Pyaar Ke Do Naam Ek Raadha Ek Shyaam', 'Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli'. Talking about the new show,
Sooraj said, "Today, girls are doing so well in their professions, men and women both work and contribute financially to the family.
Sometimes women earn more than men and this often creates friction. We are trying to say that money should never come in between." The story revolves around Aakash, who marries Angana and enters the Raichand
family as a 'ghar-jamai'.
When asked whether the show is loosely based on the movie 'Ghar Jamai', Sooraj said, "This is not true at all. We have based our show in Indore where we have a house where the custom is of having Ghar Jamais...
This show is a love story."
