Mahesh Manjrekar's recent B-Town acting outings may have been in Salman Khan-starrers like Bodyguard, Ready and Dabangg. The filmmaker-actor is, however, known for his hard-hitting real-life dramas. Manjrekar now has the chance to essay one such character. He plays a eunuch in Vishwas Patil's upcoming film.
Stepping out in bright salwar kurtas and sarees with garish make-up and gaudy baubles came easily to Manjrekar.
He says, "For me it is a role; whatever it is. That has always been my approach to acting. I can't say anything more at this juncture as I have signed a contract not to divulge any details about the film or my character till the makers tell me so."
His co-star Dalip Tahil is however more forthcoming. He says, "My character is that of a married man who has an affair with a eunuch played by Mahesh."
He adds, "Eunuchs have no status. They are shunned and not treated as human beings. I feel society should give them an opportunity to live a life of dignity. They should be treated with compassion."
