If the second one becomes a hit, we can go to the third one, which is actually the first one. So 'Dabangg 3' will be a prequel," said Salman, who plays a corrupt, but kind-hearted cop in the movie.
"Dabangg", released in 2012, was directed by Abhinav Kashyap. It featured Salman and then debutant Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.
Sonakshi also features in "Dabangg 2".
Asked if she will be seen in the prequel, he said: "There is a place for Sonakshi in 'Dabangg 3' as well. She is there, her father is there, but we don't meet."
For now, Salman is looking forward to "Dabangg 2", which has been produced as well as directed by his younger brother Arbaaz. The film, featuring Prakash Raj as the villain, releases Dec 21.
Why 'Chedi Singh' was left out'
Arbaaz Khan reveals the real reason why Sonu Sood is not part of 'Dabangg' sequel
After essaying the character of the villain Chedi Singh in Salman Khan's Dabangg, there was no looking back for Sonu Sood.
Incidentally, while several characters from the film have been retained in the sequel, there is no sign of Sonu. A source says, `Both Sonu and Arbaaz were keen on the film. However the track was not doing justice. Prakash Raj will be playing the lead antagonist in the film now.`
Arbaaz says, `When we started working on the film, we were ideating on a track for Sonu. I also narrated the track to him and we both realised that it was not doing justice to the film or to him so much.
We thought we had to be true to the film, and the relationship we share. We mutually decided that we would work together in some other film in the future and omitted the scenario.`
