After ruling Bollywood for over forty years now, the don of Hindi cinema Amitabh Bachchan is all set to make his debut in Hollywood with 'The Great Gatsby', based on a novel by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The actor will be playing a Jewish don and father figure to Leonardo DiCaprio in the film.

Speaking on the film, the veteran actor said, "The character is a very prominent character in the book. "

"I didn't really look upon it as something that I need to be conscious of when I am doing something in Hollywood. . . which is going to jeopardise something further that will come my way, " Bachchan told NDTV.

"I just did it because Baz Luhrmann (Director) asked me to do that. I said fine I'll just go ahead, " he said.

Bachchan, who has worked with almost all the eminent directors of Indian film industry said an actor cannot live in a cocoon and think he is the best.

"I think a part of our profession of creativity is to understand and recognise other person's creativity. . . It will be terrible for me to live in this cocoon and say I am the best. . . I know everything and there is nothing beyond that, " he said.

He said he has deal of respect for Baz Luhrmann, Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan.

Having worked in Bollywood as well as Hollywood, Bachchan said the two worlds are different.

"I think they are two different worlds primarily because of the cultural difference. . . Our social and moral value are different from them, " he said.
