In addition to playback singing, cutting music albums is also important as it provides immense scope to showcase one's talent, says noted singer Sonu Nigam.

"I got popularity and national recognition through my music albums which paved way for my playback career in films", Nigam told reporters at the launch of Chanda Ki Doli, his latest music album, here last night.

The release function was followed by a musical concert by Nigam.

It also featured `Indian idol' Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana, Rahul Vaidya, Amit Tandon, Prajakta Shukre and Aditi Paul.

Besides presenting several of his chart-busters from Hindi films, Nigam also sung a few songs from Chanda Ki Doli. The programme would be telecast on Sony TV on June 10.

Those present on the occasion included noted actress Jaya Bachchan, singer Suresh Wadkar, Bhajan maestro Anup Jalota and dandiya queen Falguni Pathak.

Nigam thanked executive vice-president and business head of Sony Entertainment Television Tarun Katial and T-series chief Bhushan Kumar, who were also present, for their support.
