Shahid Kapoor regrets turning down a film when he had the opportunity to sign it

Shahid Kapoor has completed nearly a decade in the industry and has quite a few acclaimed films to his credit but in the past few years, he admits he has been rather selective about his work.

The actor, who is all set to romance Ileana D'Cruz in his upcoming film, which he calls a mass entertainer, thinks that now is the right time for him to do such projects.

Incidentally, Shahid states that while selecting a film, he doesn't set any criteria. `There is no strategy as such but I have now decided I will do three films a year. Doing fewer films was a bad idea because it's boring to sit at home. `


Interestingly, Shahid's list of rejected films makes more news than him signing one. `I'm sure every actor has said no to a film at some point of time. It is not respectful to talk about movies that you haven't done.

I don't know how word gets around - but the next day, it's everywhere in the papers. There could be a lot of reasons to reject a film - dates, casting issues and even a particular genre, ` he says in his defence.

But on a good note, Sasha and Ekta Kapoor were reported to have sorted out their alleged differences at the recent success party of Lootera. But the actor refuses to acknowledge that there were any issues between them in the first place. `Ekta and I have always been friends and there was no problem between us. `


Also in the news recently was Karan Johar postponing his film to avert a clash with the actor's next upon the latter's request.

Some differences had apparently cropped up between the actor and the filmmaker previously after Shahid turned down a few of his film offers.

`I must publicly thank him. He had no other release date available but I went and met him. As a friend, he was kind enough to shift the film. We know each other since eight years and share a great equation. `

However, Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox, which is incidentally being presented by Karan, is also slated to release on the same date. On this, says the actor, `I can just say all the best to them and to us. I didn't know Karan's presenting it. Hope both the films do well. This is all one can do. `


Many eyebrows were also raised when Shahid apparently partied with Priyanka Chopra at his residence. But the actor argues that his alleged former ladylove just happened to be present under the same roof. `I just hosted a party and called a few friends. It was not to celebrate her birthday. She was on the guest list. `

While there was some recent speculation on Shahid and Huma Qureshi's apparent dalliances, the two are said to have another common link. Sources say the two actors share the same fitness trainer, Abbas Ali.

And apparently that's how they remain in the know-how of each other's whereabouts.
