The actor tried to resolve differences between archrivals, Mohanlal and Mammootty

It is known that Aamir Khan roped in South star Mohanlal for the promotions of his show, 'Satyamev Jayate'. Now the Bollywood actor has taken one step further by aiming to resolve the rivalry between Mohanlal and Mammootty.

A source says that last Thursday, a dinner party was held at Mohanlal's residence in Kochi, where the who's who of Malayalam film industry was present. Aamir, who was also present at the do, invited Mammootty for the same. A source present at the event confirms the news. `Aamir made them meet and both Mohanlal and Mammootty greeted each other warmly,` says the source.

It seems that they then sat together and discussed movies and other issues for nearly three hours. `This has never happened in the past. They have been seen at several award functions but they never really talked to each other.

Their rivalry is legendary much like that of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan,` adds the source.

Another source from the South film industry says the two stars may have not expressed their rivalry openly but it is known that they don't get along. `When they meet each other, there is always an undercurrent of rivalry. This has been the case for more than two decades now; it is like the rivalry between Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar in their heyday,` says the source.

Meanwhile:The Bollywood actor is also helping his writer-actor pal Amin Hajee realise his directorial ambitions

Aamir Khan's close friend, actor-turned-writer Amin Hajee, will soon make his directorial debut. Best remembered for his role in Ashutosh Gowarikar's film, 'Lagaan', (where he played the drummer Bagha), Amin later penned Vikram Bhatt's films such as 'Haunted', 'Dangerous Ishhq', and '1920: Evil Returns', apart from continuing with his acting assignments. He was also the co-writer for Gowarikar's film, 'Swades'.

A source close to Hajee says that his directorial debut is a murder mystery. Aamir is said to have already read the script and he liked it. `He has also shared his inputs with Hajee,` says the source. There's no word yet on whether Aamir will star in the film or not. But the source says that casting for film will begin shortly.
