Filmmaker Rohan Sippy, who is preparing to release his second movie "Bluffmaster", is quite certain about one thing - he will never remake his father Ramesh Sippy's "Sholay".

"Never. I don't think it can be remade. It's a flawless film, why would I like to remake it? There is no need to," Rohan, who was here to promote his new film, told in an interview.

Many Bollywood directors are busy remaking old Hindi films - while Farhan Akhtar has teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan to recreate "Don", Ram Gopal Varma is re-filming "Sholay".

But Rohan is not too enthused by the idea.

"'Sholay' would run to packed houses if it was re-released today. It's got an amazing star cast. Today there is no better cast than Bachchan, Jayaji, Dharmendraji and Sanjeev Kumar."

Rohan thinks any comparison between him and his father is flattering.

"I think it is flattering. If you ask any director in India, to be compared to Ramesh Sippy is a huge compliment.

"I'm a huge fan of his work. I think he has made so many good films. Four or five of them are outstanding - there is 'Shakti', 'Sholay', 'Shaan', 'Saagar'. And I love 'Seeta Aur Geeta'. They are so different from one another and I think that range very few directors have achieved."

Right now he is quite taken up with "Bluffmaster", which comes after his directorial debut "Kuch Naa Kaho".

"When we started it up, the idea was to make the film in the genre of a con film. When the story developed, different kinds of genres crept in.

"There is a very emotional love story at the heart of it and humour also comes into it. It is a film that I enjoyed making and I hope it is enjoyable to watch."

In the film, Abhishek Bachchan plays the title role of a con man. Abhishek had starred in "Kuch Naa Kaho" too, but the film didn't do well. So why has he cast the same hero again?

"It would be a great disrespect to him if I would say that I cast him because he is a friend. And box office success is not in your control," Rohan said.

"I had a great experience working with him. I am happy he gave me an opportunity to work with him again. He suited the character and I knew he could fit the bill."

Abhishek and Priyanka work together for the first time in the film, which releases Dec 16. "I think they share a great chemistry."

The director is also banking on the story.

"I do genuinely believe that there is something worth telling in this film. I'm very happy with the story. I believe Shridhar Raghavan is a very good writer. The actors and technicians helped me tell the story and make it into a film."

Asked about his future projects, he said: "There are a couple of fun scripts that Shridhar is developing right now and I am working on those."

So, wouldn't he like to work with Amitabh Bachchan?

"Undoubtedly. I spoke to him at one point but I never completed the subject. Now I feel a little more confident. Having made two films, I will be worthy of doing justice to his time and talent. It's a huge responsibility to work with him."

About featuring Nana Patekar, who is known to be a difficult actor, in "Bluffmaster", Sippy said: "Initially it was intimidating, but it was in my own head. As long as you know your job and you are prepared on the set, he is a great guy to work with.

"Maybe people like him are so focused that working in a situation where people are unprepared irritate them, that's all I can say."
