Lucky Ali's 2002 movie ‘Sur' and recently released ‘Kasak' with Pakistani actress Meera failed to
cast the same magic that was created by his music albums, forcing the singer to admit he is happy
being a musician.
Both ‘Sur' and ‘Kasak' may not have faired well at the box-office, but Ali's performance was praised
by the audience. The son of popular Bollywood comedian Mehmood, however, has arrived at the
conclusion that acting is not his cup of tea and he will concentrate on his music career.
"I was doing different things when dad was alive, and acting was one of them. It is among many other
things I have done in my life. But, I basically wanted to be a musician. Moreover, people like me as a
musician," said Lucky Ali, who created waves in music industry in 1996 with his album ‘Sunoh'.
When asked about the secret behind his melodious voice, he said, "I just know that if there is a tune
that comes in my heart or head, I want to express that. If it makes me happy, I hope it would be liked
by others also."
Lucky Ali's debut effort, ‘Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai' had him singing two numbers, ‘Ek pal ka jeena' and
‘Na tum jaano na hum' for music director Rajesh Roshan. The songs made history, with ‘Na tum
jaano na hum' winning him first Filmfare award for best male playback singer.
