Actor-politician Govinda's brother was Friday booked for rioting after a mob led by him allegedly damaged the office of a television channel whose reporter had accused the star of assaulting her.

Police booked Kirti Ahuja, Govinda's elder brother, after a group of people led by him allegedly attacked the office of Janmat Television in Oshiwara in the western suburb of Andheri.

A reporter of the channel, Shwetha Ranjan, had filed a complaint with police against the star, charging him of assaulting her Thursday night at his office in Juhu. A case of manhandling was registered against Govinda after the complaint.

Along with Kirti, 10 others were also booked on charges of rioting and intimidation. However, no arrests were made, senior police officials said.

Kirti had reportedly gone to the channel's office Friday afternoon, where one of the people accompanying him pelted stones, police said.
