How did you bag a role in your forthcoming film, Haider?
I had heard about Shahid Kapoor doing Vishal Bharadwaj's film. I asked him if the girl i had already been cast. He replied that they hadn't finalized anyone and that I should talk to Vishal sir. So I called him up and he auditioned me for the part. It wasn't a question of me saying yes or no to the film; I was waiting to hear a yes from Vishal sir.
What was it like to be a part of such a film?
It cannot get better than this. Vishal Bharadwaj is responsible for the turning points in a lot of actresses' careers. He is the one who changed things for them; it feels surreal. Also, I can confidently say that Shahid cares a lot about me; I can sense that he is protective about me in a nice way.
There were reports that you were apprehensive about kissing Shahid?
I don't know where these reports are coming from. Of course, I wouldn't do anything beyond my comfort zone, but this is silly, and there was no apprehension. I don't know why this notion was put out there because I have kissed before.
There were also stories about you not wanting to work with older actors...
Just because I do not react doesn't mean that it's true. I don't want to sit and clarify these things. I can only make the best use of the opportunities that come my way. Of course, I have a wish list of directors and actors I want to work with; this obviously includes the Khans and other big names; it's a long list. I want to work with anybody from whom I can learn.
How often do you turn to your father for advice?
All the time. We are always discussing films; I call my dad, my brother, my mum and my aunts. It's very important for me to listen to my family and friends' opinions.
Are you dating Aditya Roy Kapur?
This is a two-year old rumour now, and it should just die. It must die its death.
