Director John Mathew Matthan of "Sarfarosh" fame returns with a gripping emotional drama titled
"Shikhar" Friday.
Today's generation is often driven by ambition and materialistic pursuits and there is no place for
idealism, emotions and feelings in their life. Matthan's film highlights these issues.
"Shikhar" is the story of conflict between two men - one is idealistic and other is ambitious and
greedy. It shows how far greed can take a man.
Gaurav Gupta, also known as GG (Ajay Devgan), is an ambitious man who lives life king size and has
no time for losers. He wants to buy a city and rule it and he can go to any length to fulfil his
dream.
Shridhan Vardhan aka Guruji (Jawed Sheikh) is an industrialist who steps out of his business to
become a social crusader. He lives in an ashram and believes wealth should be used for the welfare
of society.
Guruji's son Jaidev Vardhan (Shahid Kapur) dreams of doing something big in life and moves to a city.
He bumps into GG and falls for the latter's gilt-edged dreams, changing his own life.
While Guruji hopes Jaidev will return to his roots, GG uses glamorous Natasha (Bipasha Basu) to
bewitch Jaidev. Whether Jaidev will stick to the values he has imbibed or go astray is what the film is
all about.
Matthan's directorial debut "Sarfarosh", with Aamir Khan, was a big hit and expectations are very high
from his second film. This time he has teamed up with Pakistani actor Jawed Sheikh and Ajay whose
acting prowess was evident again in Prakash Jha's "Apaharan".
The film also has one of Bollywood's budding actors Shahid, whose recent release "Vaah! Life Ho Toh
Aisi" has failed to impress.
