Erika was born and brought up with her two brothers in Medellin, Colombia. She is currently in her 9th semester studying communication and journalism, her ambition is to be an international journalist. Hobbies are: painting in porcelain, going to the movies, volleyball, music, enjoying the typical dances of her country, especially from the indian culture. Erika also has a special talent for writing scripts for the theatre and has worked for the public relations of her university, making information bulletins for the students. She loves healthy food and pasta. Her motto would be “to give others not what she has but the things that they need”.

Where would you most like to visit in the world and why?
China; to learn about their spirituality, their culture, traditions, especially how they respect family and elders, and their economic level.
What is the best thing about your country?
The best of my country is the richness of its people as friendly, hard working and diligent, as well as the beautiful landscaping with it’s diverse climates, animals and flowers. It is also rich in coal and petroleum, as well as the producer of the richest coffee in the world, and the leader producer of emeralds. My country is also home to great figures such as formula 1 driver juan pablo montoya, world-class cyclist santiago botero, and the football stars juan pablo angel and ivan ramiro cordoba. Colombia is also home of the famous artist fernando botero, singers shakira, juanes and carlos vives as well as 2005 oscar nominated actress catalina sandino.

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?
To win miss world and have the opportunity to work with the organisation in benefit work for unprivileged children of the world, as well as to grow spiritually and also to grow as model and to gain experience as journalist.
If you were stuck on a desert island with one other person (famous or not) whom would you choose?
With fernando botero, the artist that paints overweight figures. He is from my native city medellin, and he created a unique style that made him one of the most famous contemporary artists, while staying humble and very human.
What is your message to all the other miss world contestants?
I will show them the opportunity miss world has given us to work for women and children of the world, as well as to grow and look for success for our country and for us. This is a big responsibility, but also big gift.
