What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
My interests are creative writing, reading, jogging outdoors, cooking (Italian cuisine is my favorite!), freestyle dancing, and family reunions. These are the things I turn to when I need to recharge my spirit and relax.
Name one person other than your parents who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
Although much of the credit goes to my mother for being my guide and mentor of my strength and self-worth, I can say that even though I've only met him once in one of his conferences, my favorite author, Deepak Chopra, has had a huge influence on my life. Reading his books has given me much strength and faith. His books on spiritual laws have made me a more patient, strong and joyful person and these virtues have helped me lead my life in a more proactive way.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My biggest ambition is to have my own television program where I can explore and communicate things that inform, educate and motivate my audience, a program that focuses on human rights, culture, sexuality, health, and fitness, etc. I'm a communications major and am taking classes as part of my preparation. I've also begun to introduce myself to professionals who can mentor and advise me on how to get this started. In the meanwhile I'm focused on my pageant preparation, but I've begun to think of this project and write down my ideas so that I have a way to present it to executives when the moment arrives.
Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I was raised in Monterrey, a city in the northern part of Mexico. It is a city distinguished for having the country's most prestigious university and for being the most industrious city as well. They call Nuevo Leon the "State of Progress." I have fond memories of my father whom I was very attached to as a child; he made me feel like a queen. I grew up with an independent, strong, yet vulnerable mother as a role model. I was the shy, quiet type, but very observing and analytic. I'll never forget the happiness I shared with my brother and cousins. My fondest memories are going to piņata parties (piņata is what we call children's birthday parties in Mexico), vacations at the beach, enjoying holidays together and weekends at grandma's house with them.
What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?
Although all of us are passionate and dedicated women who share very similar goals and are all involved in many similar activities, we're all different and unique given our native diversities. My cultural background chraracterizes me among the rest. The country and culture I was raised in influenced much of who I am today. Growing up close to the US border in an industrious city where people are known to aim high made me a woman of ambition. My Aztec and Spanish origins characterize me as well. Mexicans are warriors at heart only we have many values instilled in us by our Spanish ancestors so it is a beautiful interesting mix that no other contestant carries.
