Irene was born in Essikadu and has recently moved to Accra.
She is passionate about mathematics, now as a student of the University of Cape Coast she is pursuing undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Statistics. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics she intends to undertake postgraduate studies in actuarial science.
She loves traditional and western dance, is a keen swimmer and enjoys watching wrestling on TV. When at school she and two others from Africa took part in an international basketball competition at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and she won the award “Most Improved Player”.
Irene has toured Ghana with a programme to promote the value of education, and has also visited several European countries as well as the USA. The dishes she most enjoys all contain rice.
She found her motto in a novel by Chinua Achebe: “The lizard that jumps from the high Iroko tree says If no-one praises me I will praise myself!”
