Marichen, a volunteer charity worker, grew up in Swakopmund, a coastal holiday resort with a German flavour to it.
She wants to follow up her Diploma in Information Studies from the University of Namibia with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She takes part in the University’s HIV/AIDS charity work.
She is a good sportswoman and enjoys going to the gym, athletics and netball. Marichen has a talent for dancing and likes traditional dance, and relaxing to jazz, but likes most kinds of music at different times.
Her favourite dish is Donkie Vleis en Pap (meat with maize meal porridge).
Her motto reads: “Live every day and every moment as if it’s the last, and tell the ones you love how much you love and appreciate them, for tomorrow is not guaranteed.”
