Christine Renee Straw

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
I would say my aunt, Jan Lee, has influenced me the most other than my parents. I admire her dedication to living her passion, which is scuba diving. She has been a diver for over 30 years, and despite all the challenges that came, she persevered and is living a happy and purposeful life.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
While studying in London a friend and I went to Premier Agency, and I got chosen on the spot for a hair campaign that was advertised all over Europe. Month later my brother called from Scotland saying he saw me on the side of a bus. It was definitely exciting and a great feeling.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
I intend to pursue a career in broadcasting. I already have several years of experience working within the film and production industry of Jamaica, which serves as a great foundation for pursuing a degree in this field.

Are you currently a student? If yes, where? What is your area of study?
University of Technology., Real Estate Salesmanship.

List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.
Bartending in New York City.
I also worked in a rum distillery where I conducted tours.
I hosted a Travel Channel feature on diving in the Caribbean.

Describe your childhood home and living conditions. Were you raised with a large family with lots of brothers and sisters?
Even though we were raised in the country, my brother and I went to school in Kingston and we commuted daily. As children we would play in the river and nearby forests.
