Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
A very close friend of my family's died of AIDS eleven years ago. Her death affected me a lot since I loved her dearly. After the whole process of sadness and frustration, I made the decision to study medicine and to fight to find a cure or way of preventing this disease.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The most unique thing that has happened to me was the first time I assisted in the birth of a child. It is hard to describe in words the feeling I had at that moment, the same feeling I still have every time I can help in a child's birth. It is so incredibly beautiful it still makes me almost cry with happiness every time I do it. To then place the child in its mother's arms and see the love between them is also fascinating and very rewarding.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to become a medical doctor and specialize in the field of infectious diseases. I also plan to earn my Ph.D. investigating HIV/AIDS. My goal is to work with "Medicine Sans Frontier" and to travel with them to any part of the world where they require my help as a doctor. I currently have one semester left of medical school.

Umea Universitet, Sweden with only one semester left of studies., Human medicine.

List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.

Describe your childhood home and living conditions. Were you raised with a large family with lots of brothers and sisters?
I was raised in a small town in the Andes called Cerro de Pasco. It lies 4300 meters above sea level and is the primary city of mines in Peru. My childhood was a very happy period. Unfortunately, my father died when I was 5. His hobby was car racing, and he actually won the national championship in 1984. Sadly, he died in a car accident in 1985. I have one little sister and one little brother. We are very close with each other. And, I have a mother whom I love above all, of course.

What one word describes you best?
Persevering.
