Shandy Finnessey

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
My grandmother was born into poverty and raised during the Depression on a farm in North Dakota. Throughout all of her trials and tribulations, she has remained the strongest, most compassionate woman I know, and I can only hope to one day emulate her.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The most interesting thing I have done was wrestle a greased pig in a pit of mud. The most interesting thing about me is that I am a strong self-motivator. This was prevalent even in high school as I made the decision to transfer from my public school into an all-girls private school. I also graduated with my undergraduate degree in 3 1/2 years.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
I am working toward my doctorate degree in counseling, and I hope to eventually use that degree on television.

List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.
At a physical therapy convention I had my ankle wrapped and taped over 500 times as students competed for the best time!

Describe your childhood home and living conditions. Were you raised with a large family with lots of brothers and sisters?
I was raised with two wonderful parents, three older brothers and a household of pets. My parents taught me to have a strong mind and a soft heart, my brothers taught me that it is okay to get dirty as long as you are having fun and our pets taught me unconditional love.

What one word describes you best?
Adaptable.
