What is the most interesting or surprising thing about you, or that has happened to you?
One very interesting fact about me is my ability to accomplish the goals I set for myself. My North Dakota Teen USA title is a perfect example. I have never been in a pageant before and decided to enter the state competition. I worked very hard beforehand to get ready and here I am!
Are you the oldest, youngest or a middle child and what does that mean to you?
I am the oldest child, so growing up I have always been the one to set examples for my younger siblings to follow. I have shown them that all dreams are reachable and to "shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
Name one person, family, friend, celebrity, who has had the most influence on your life.
Rhonda Abernathey. My mom brought me into this world and has taught me so much. I am so thankful to have her in my life. She is a stay-at-home mom and loves each of us six children like we're the only things in life that matter to her. She has shown me love, happiness and the importance of always being true to myself. The morals and values she has embedded in me, I hope to pass on to my own children one day; I hope I can be half the mother to my children she is to me.
What charity/charities have you supported with your time and/or resources over past two years? Please provide the name of the charity, level of involvement.
Easter Seals - every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 5-8 and 9-12, I volunteered at Easter Seals teaching swimming lessons to levels 1,2, and 3 and also lifeguarding family swimming.
Operation Shoebox - Last winter, I put together an Operation Shoebox, where students and teachers at school could bring in items such as toilet paper, canned food and other items the soldiers in Iraq would need and then I boxed them up and sent them to Iraq, so our soldiers could have supplies and know that people in Mohall, North Dakota were thinking about them.
Teach Sunday School - Every Sunday, I teach Sunday School at Church. I also put together this year's Christmas program.
I volunteer with local blood drives.
Collect and deliver canned food around the holidays.
Collect and deliver to our local mitten and giving tree every Christmas to provide mittens and presents to the less fortunate.
