Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
I have grown up in the city of Chongqing, which is known for its mountains, hot dishes and warm-hearted people. I am happy to be one of them. If you have a chance to visit my family, you’ll find yourself at home with my kind mother and gentle father as your hostess and host.
What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
I’ve been preparing for a desirable job all the time from the age of 7 up to now, in primary, secondary and higher educational institutes. What makes me wonder most is that no matter where I studied, I’m one of the top.
What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
I’ve prepared to be a financial specialist as I majored in this, but who knows what will happen in the future. I am ambitious in a certain way, but who knows what the future will bring. The most important thing for me is to do the thing that lie right before me, which seems the most realistic way to realise my most ambiguous ambitions.
What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
It is very hard for me to tell which moment is my proudest moment. But I really feel proud when I make my parents proud of me. I got such an impression when I was admitted into a national key university.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
One day the new part time worker hired by my mother when stopped me when I was entering my own home. I was embarrassed, as I was refused what I was entitled to and didn’t know whom to blame.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
Since winning my national title, I have had more photos taken, made more contacts, and learnt many new things. Something is changing in my life, but I have not got a clear idea of it. I value my past experience and expect a bright future.
Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
I like to have people around me as my teachers, from whom I can learn something helpful in my life. My grandaunt is one of them. She is the most interesting person I have ever met. She is over 70 years old, but still young in her mind. Whenever I am with her, I feel that there is no ending in one’s life. What I learnt from her is the positive attitude toward life: Be happy, then life is happy and will be happy.
What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
If I became Miss World 2004, I will do charitable work to help disabled children at home and abroad. I will advocate environment protection and I would like to have a chance to learn abroad, e.g. In Britain
If you had a personal motto what would it be?
My motto is an ancient Chinese poem. It is hard to translate it in English but I will give it a try - "The desirable comes from being nothing-desired; Far-reaching is out of a still-hear."
Give details of any charitable work undertaken?
I did some charitable work in my middle school as well as in the university. One of those times is still fresh in my memory. It was in winter last year, organised by the Association of Young Volunteers, my classmates and I set up a platform with a box to raise money, clothing and books for those poor children in a far-off mountain area. It is was good for me to see what we gathered and sent this away to some unknown boys and girls.
