Maria grew up in Heraklio, on the beautiful island of Crete. She is currently a student at the University of Politics in Athens, her ambition is to be a journalist. In her spare time Maria enjoys working as a model in fashion shows and for editorials. Maria’s sporting interests are: Extreme sports & sea sports, she also enjoys: acting, theatre, music, TV presentation, folk & modern dance.Her motto is: Be positive and another one is: Never say EVER and ALWAYS.


Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
My name is Maria Spiridaki, I was born on the 2 of January 1984 and am 19 years old. I grew up in Heraklio the larger city of the very beautiful Crete Island. I have one brother, younger than me, and two wonderful parents who taught me to be an honest and kind person.

What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
At present I am a student in University of Politics in Athens city, far away from my family and I am working as a model.

What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
I would like to involve myself in the world of television. I am interested in TV shows. I feel very confident and comfortable with a camera around me. I intend to realize my ambitions when I finish my studies.

What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
The proudest moment of my life was when I got to go the University of Politics!

What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
My funniest moment? I remember one day, years ago when I was walking to a blind date and few seconds before I met the guy, I slipped down the street in front of him. I am laughing every time I think about it.

What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
My life changed since I took the title of Miss Greece, because now most people know me. When I walk down the street, people talk to me - specific in my native place. I have to do a lot of work now. I am already on the cover of many famous magazines in my country and I make many editorials and fashion shows too.

Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
I have met a lot of famous people in my country that didn’t know of me before. Now we have become friends.

What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
If I become Miss World 2004 I will try to do my best and anything to help people in need. And be worthy of my title demand.

If you had a personal motto what would it be?
My personal motto is: never say EVER and ALWAYS, and another one is BE POSITIVE!
