Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
I grew up in a small town in Kenya, now The City of Kisumu, one of the cleanest cities in Africa. We are so blessed to be bordered by Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the World. There are six in my family, three brothers and three sisters. We are close to one another as a family and a community.
What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
I attended a fashion show in the rural home area and the crowd was so excited, they cheered me so much because I was on of their own! And to them, it was unbelievable sharing the glory of a beauty queen on a live show.
What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
My career ambitions are to be a top model and an International journalist and I plan to realize these by studying and travelling worldwide, learning diverse cultures of various people around the world.
What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
The proudest moment of my life was when I won a regional High School skit-writing competition. I was flabbergasted and extremely excited.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
It was when a friend of mine and I went for a holiday at a hotel. We were walking on the grounds of the hotel at night when we heard laughter and music. We decided to have a look, so we went in thinking that it was the hotel’s function. We took to the dance floor and started dancing only to be thrown out in front of everyone and told that that was a private party. I was so embarrassed!
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
I have gained exposure through the limelight and I am a role model to so many people. I get picked up and dropped off at home whenever I am attending a function. I have also learnt a lot from the people I have met at these functions.
Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
The most interesting person that I have met is my chaperone; Janet, who manages to crack jokes while she maintains a serious face. She has interesting ideas on everything and she can at times make me feel like a baby all the same. She is always there for me, she is simply wonderful!
What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
I would like to work with orphans and encourage them never to give up and to pursue their dreams to the best of their ability, because I know how lonely and neglected they feel.
If you had a personal motto what would it be?
NEVER GIVE UP IN LIFE!
Give details of any charitable work undertaken?
I went for an anti-abortion walk. I helped in the distribution of food aid to the hunger stricken people in my country.
