What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
In High school I was on the track team, a hurdler... At my last meet I ran the 100m hurdles, but I caught my trail leg on a sharp piece of metal on the hurdle. I fell to the ground, got up, and finished the race with a huge gash on my thigh that was gushing blood everywhere. My track coach was also the boys varsity football coach, so when I went up to show him the wound he said, "Oh, you're fine. Go tape it up and get ready for the 300m hurdles. We need you in 10 minutes." In shock, I went to the trainer's office and no one was there. I taped up my leg the best I could and went out to run again. I ended up winning the 300m hurdles and it was my best time ever! I think the adrenaline helped me cope with the pain. Once my mom saw my thigh she was convinced she had to take me to the E.R. (against my will), doctors put 16 stitches in my leg. But, now I have a cool scar that makes me look tough and a story to go with it!

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Denver Race For The Cure) 1997-2004. I have been a race volunteer for 8 years. My best friend’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer twice. She is a remarkably strong woman and has overcome many obstacles. I have been a volunteer since I met my wonderful friend who shares her mother’s strength. I am a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. and our main area of philanthropy is promoting breast cancer awareness and fundraising for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's breast cancer research.
The Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer Team - Chris Henderson Foundation - supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Magic Johnson Foundation(NBA All-Star Game) - charity fashion show, benefiting inner-city youth with strong academic potential, giving assistance for pursuit of higher education.
I am a motivational speaker with the D.A.R.E. program. I love to interact with children and having the ability to inspire them. It is a wonderful gift for me to share with them the challenges I have faced in regards to peer pressure and the ways to avoid it. I stress to the 5th & 6th grade students that it is so important to surround themselves with good people who have the same positive goals in mind.
