Sooji ka Halwa Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 100 gm Sooji (semolina)
  • 75 gm Butter
  • 75 gm Sugar
  • 120 gm Milk
  • 500 gm water
  • 5 Cardamom
  • 25 gm Sultana
  • A pinch of Kesar
  • 25 gm Almonds, sliced

Method:

  1. Bring water to a boil. Add kesar, sugar and milk and let it boil for 7-8 minutes.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan.
  3. Add semolina, stirring for 5-6 minutes till it turns light brown.
  4. Pour the syrup slowly while stirring and add the sultanas, almonds and cardamom.
  5. Keep stirring for 7-8 minutes with a wooden spoon. The mixture will thicken.
  6. Pour and set in a glass bowl and decorate with almonds.
  7. Can serve hot or cold.


Tip: To intensify the sweetness of any dish,add a pinch of salt.
