An FIR has been lodged in Madhya Pradesh against the two executives of Netflix for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through the web show 'A Suitable Boy'. The complaint has been filed by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national secretary Gaurav Tiwari against Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content (Netflix) and Ambika Khurana, Director, Public Policies (Netflix), Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said.

Gaurav Tiwari had earlier demanded an apology from Netflix and asked the removal of objectionable scenes from the series claiming that are encouraging love 'jihad'.

"On the basis of a complaint filed by Gaurav Tiwari, an FIR is being registered under section 295 (A) (malicious acts to outrage and insulting the religious feelings and beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Rewa against Netflix officials, Monika Shergill and Ambika Khurana," Mishra said in a video.

"'A Suitable Boy was released on an OTT media platform. Kissing scenes were filmed inside a temple with bhajans being sung in the background. I consider it objectionable. I think this hurt feeling," Mishra said in a video tweet.

"I have directed police to examine the series and determine what action can be taken against the producer and director of this series," he added about the Netflix series.

A Suitable Boy is a BBC television drama miniseries directed by Mira Nair and adapted by Andrew Davies from Vikram Seth's 1993 novel of the same name. The series featured actors like Ishaan Khatter, Tabu, Tanya Maniktala and others. The show was released on Netflix on 23 November.
