Meenakshi Shivani Putty

Meenakshi was born in moka and grew up in the capital, Port Louis. Mauritius is sometimes referred to as the ‘pearl of the indian ocean’ and famous for its hospitality, the main trade is in sugar cane, textiles, tourism and is now emerging in the it sector. Having gained her higher diploma level in it she is working as a customer service executive, her ambition is to have her own company and develop the i.t. sector for mauritius and africa. Her proudest moment was the day she graduated and lived up to all the expectations that her parents had placed in her. Hobbies and sporting interests are: public speaking, nature walks, badminton, volleyball, horse riding, listening to fusion music, dancing and indian dance. The two concepts that have guided her life are: “do things right” and “do the right things”.

How would you describe yourself in three words?
Loving, generous, friendly

Do you have a special or unusual talent? (what is it?)
I excel in indian classical dance.

Where would you most like to visit in the world and why?
India. Being of indian origin, it’s like going back to the source, full of it’s brilliant colours, numerous languages, delicious cuisines, soul enriching music, different cultures and races – india is like the world itself.

What is the best thing about your country?
Mauritius is well known for its hospitality.

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?
I wish all barriers, that are dividing the world, to be eliminated and that we all live peacefully, loving and accepting one another.

If you were stuck on a desert island with one other person (famous or not) whom would you choose?
My mum. As she is the only person who can give me real support and affection in difficult times.

What is your message to all the other miss world contestants?
Good luck to you all. May we use this platform to express the need to have beauty in our hearts so that it brings love and understanding for a better world.
