Environmental Concern:
Pollution is the addition to the ecosystem of something which has a detrimental effect on it. One of the most important causes of pollution is the high rate of energy usage by modern, growing populations. Different kinds of pollution are found: Air Pollution, Water contamination and Land Pollution. Firstly, what is Air Pollution? Air pollution is actually the addition of any harmful substances to the atmosphere, which causes the damaging of the environment, human health and the quality of life. Examples of air pollution are: Exhaust Gases of Vehicles, tobacco smoke, Combustion of Coal, Acid Rain. The result of this is global rise in temperature which scientists refer to as "global warming". In spite of this fact, individual people can help to combat air pollution in their own immediate environment. In addition to this, some people trying to solve this problem giving solutions how to protect our environment from air pollution. Firstly, people should use environmental friendly cars and more often use public transport to protect atmosphere from exhausted fumes and to avoid “global warming”. Secondly, government should ban factories which not use filters on the chimneys to protect environment from large amount of toxic fumes. Thirdly, the establishment of more smokeless zones and control over the kinds of fuel used in cars, airplanes, power stations would lower this problem. Talking about water pollution, it is the introduction into fresh or ocean waters of chemical, physical, or biological material that degrades the quality of the water and affects the organisms living in it. Examples of water pollution are: Industrial affluent, Mining and Agricultural Wastes, Sewage Disposal and Domestic Wastes. To stop water pollution the following measures can be used: firstly, every intelligent people should be wise enough not to pollute water in any way, by research and legislation the pollution of water bodies, even though not entirely prevented, must be effectively controlled.
Finally, land pollution is the degradation of the Earth's land surface through misuse of the soil by poor agricultural practices, mineral exploitation, industrial waste dumping, and indiscriminate disposal of urban wastes. It includes visible waste and litter as well as pollution of the soil itself. Examples of Land pollution are: soil pollution, waste disposal. There are several solutions how to solve the problem of Land pollution. Firstly, anti-litter campaigns can educate people against littering. The other measure which can be done to protect earth from land pollution is organic waste dumping in places far from residential areas. Finally, inorganic materials such as metals, glass and plastic, but also paper, can be reclaimed and recycled. In conclusion, there are many ways to protect our planet from environmental damage but the salvation of this problem is possible only then if individual people will help to combat environmental pollution in their own immediate environment. Why? We must think about our future and protect it!!!

What makes you proud of your country:
I would like to introduce my country. I would like to begin by mention the most important facts about Lithuania. The Republic of Lithuania is situated in the center of Europe. It borders on Latvia, Belarus, Poland and the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. Lithuania lies on the eastern shore by the Baltic Sea. The population of Lithuania is about 3.8 million people. There live not only Lithuanians, but also a few percent Russians and Polish. The state language is Lithuanian and it is the oldest Indo-European language. Firstly, I would like to say, that in Lithuania there is a beautiful nature are there are many places of interest. I would like to start this rewiew by capital of Lithuania – Vilnius. There are many museums: Amber Museum, Gediminas Castle, Radvilos Palace and many others, but I would like to introduce the most interesting places in Lithuania. Near Vilnius there is the geographical centre of Europe, where is estabilised the park of skulptures. World-famous sculptors have been invited to create mammoth-sized works of art in extensive grounds surrounded by ancient forest. Europe Park's towering trees surrounded by ancient forest are a pleasure to walk through, and there's a surprise round every corner. Europe Park takes almost a day to explore. There is nothing like Europe Park in Europe. More than 70 works of contemporary art are currently on show, and the number is always growing. The Hill of Crosses is a small hill where are many hundreds of thousands of crosses that represent Christian devotion and a memorial to Lithuanian national identity. The size and variety of crosses brought by Christian pilgrims from all around the world is as amazing as their number. Rosaries, pictures of Jesus and the saints, and photographs of Lithuanian patriots also decorate the larger crosses. On windy days breezes blowing through the forest of crosses and hanging rosaries produces a uniquely beautiful music. The most beautiful place in Lithuania is The Curonian Spit. It is a narrow spit between The Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. It is unique in its beauty. The range of sand dunes with its rare flora, the seaside forest cherishing the hundred-year-old trees and hand-planted mountain pines, the white sand beaches, well developed infrastructure, typical for that land architecture and a pleasant smell of smoked fish, abundance of cultural and sport events - these are the aspects which reveal the uniqueness of the region and make it unforgettable for everyone. Furthermore in The Curonian Spit there are many places of interest. There is a hill walking along path of it you can see the unique exposition of sculptures in the open air. The theme of the hill sculptures is the world where witches, demons, and characters of Neringa legends live. It is called the Hill of Witches. Away from Nida settlement, on the “Hill of Mother-in-law”, there is the German writer Thomas Mann’s two-storey summer house which does not stand out from the surroundings. I would like to finish by saying that in a little country Lithuania everyone can see something special and these impressions are unforgettable.
