Miss Florida
Allison Kreiger
What is your hometown like?
Miami's melting pot culture combines with natural beauty, an almost perfect climate, recreational and commerce opportunities, world class restaurants and nightlife, to offer something for everyone! I think one of the best things about Miami is you live in a beautiful paradise that is also a real city.
What were you like when you were a child?
I was precocious, fun-loving, independent, inquisitive, creative, a leader and voted most dramatic in my preschool class.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My grandmother (played a fundamental role in raising me) greatly influenced my life especially during my childhood. I spent a great deal of time with her, and her devotion to teaching art and her compassion for her students effected what is now my teaching style with my twirling students.
What is one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize?
While I feel I am extremely down to earth and grounded, I am also a daredevil and have a strong spirit of adventure.
What was one defining moment in your life?
The moment I realized I had conquered my eating disorder.
What was one defining moment in your life?
Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to change to be in a pageant. You must first identify the purpose pageants have in your life and then stay true to that purpose and to yourself.
What was one defining moment in your life?
I will work to decrease the escalating numbers of Americans affected by eating disorders through education and by encouraging healthy choices, positive body image, self-esteem and realistic expectations. As Miss America, I can reinforce to the over 36 million individuals suffering from an eating disorder or disordered eating patterns, that accepting our bodies the way they are is the greatest gift we can give ourselves.
