What is your hometown like?
I've lived in the same town (and home) my entire life. The town is situated right on the water and close to the mountains. Mount Rainier can be seen from my home.
What were you like when you were a child?
Outrageous! I wanted to be the center of attention at all times. I would stand on a footstool and sing through the entire score of Les Miserables with my mother dotingly watching.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My grandfather. He makes you feel like you're the most important person he could spend time with.
What is one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize?
I am not the first born child in my family.

Having former child soldiers in Sierra Leone, West Africa, tell me they still had hope

What was one defining moment in your life?
I believe Miss America needs to be socially relevant. In this globalized world, that means Miss America needs to go international. I want to sing with Bono, speak on the floor of the UN and accompany the Secretary of State on an official state visit.
