Venessa Fisher

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
My dance teacher, Joanne Fabbri, has made a major impact on my life both as a friend and a mentor. She has taught me more than just the art of dance; thanks to her I posess the skills that have allowed me to maintain my confidence, deal with rejection and face my fears. She has shown me what it takes to be a great dancer and also many life skills that serve me today.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
I am a very superstitious person! Before going on stage in any competition, I always wear my lucky diamond earrings and say a few special words and prayers. I am so superstitious that I cannot tell you what those magic words are!

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
I hope to enjoy a successful career as a performer, professional dancer, model, and journalist. I plan on returning to school to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism, focusing on the entertainment world. I recently began working as a part-time reporter for a local television station, focusing on news issues that matter to teens. Tell Mary Hart I am after her job!

List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.
When I was 15, I worked in a costume rental store. I will never forget all the requests for Star Trek costumes and Dracula fangs! We were so busy around Halloween that I never got my lunch break most days!

Describe your childhood home and living conditions. Were you raised with a large family with lots of brothers and sisters?
I have grown up with one younger sister and parents in a nice country home. Both my parents work full-time while my sister and I are often in school and participating in many different activities. Despite all the chaos, we are a close family who occasionally gets the chance to sit down for dinner together!

What one word describes you best?
Goal-oriented.
