Sabine Bourdet

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
Dame Margot Fonteyn, the greatest British ballerina of all time. Her precise technique and the warmth and delicacy of her style influenced me in becoming what I am today. I was most lucky to meet her when she visited Mauritius, that visit had a great impact on my life.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title) and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
When the Pope visited Mauritius, like all the students of Curepipe town, I was there to give him a warm welcome, and I found myself the only one holding the hand of the Pope among thousands of students.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
Being presently manager of my own group of dancers and producing shows in many 5-star hotels of Mauritius, my career ambition is to succeed in the dancing field internationally. After my year of office as Miss Mauritius, I am planning to look for opportunities to travel overseas along with my dance group so as to present my own show.

List any interesting or unsual jobs you may have had.
I worked as a sports entertainer in a five-star beach hotel resort.

Describe your childhood home and living conditions. Were you raised with a large family with lots of brothers and sisters?
I had an extraordinary childhood with loving parents and two beautiful and caring elder sisters. Being the youngest one, I have always been spoiled by my family. My sisters and I practiced sports and many other activities together. We used to have great fun when we washed the dog or played with the parrots. Since my tender age, I have always filled the family house with music and dance. My whole family was always present to support and encourage me in my career. I owe my success to them as without their great love and affection I can't imagine myself being Miss Mauritius and today being the one representing my lovely country in such a prestigious contest as the Miss Universe pageant.
